The listed ETNs (debt securities backed by the credit of the underwriting bank) and ETFs attempt to track the performance of MLP  indices

Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs) are U.S.-based publicly traded partnerships, providing and managing resources such as oil and gas pipelines in the energy industry, and strictly dependent on the volume pumped through their network

As investment vehicles, MLPs have benefited from tax advantages while retaining the unusual right to carry on an actual business, investing mostly in energy related infrastructure. These advantages have been curtailed as of Jan. 1, '18

With the infrastructure mostly installed in the US, it stands to reason the shale oil boom (or reversal of fortune) will be driving MLP business when oil prices reach break-even for shale producers

Our ETF US Sectors themes present cross-sectional views of trends in each economic activity We hope to achieve a fair coverage of ETFs in each category, which is a work in progress
