Themes are highlighted in “best performing” selections on the front page of Pininvest
They offer valuable insights on market rotation from one industry to another, pointing some of the most striking trends in the stock market
Reflecting the broad coverage of the themes, sometimes overlapping, often connected, the selections create a grid which reorders singular market factors
The grid adds a unique dimension to standard performance indices
Investment themes
Only 12 themes are listed under the “best performing” tab but, by bringing industry trends into focus, valuable information becomes discernible
Yearly performance for 2024 (as of December 31) is striking in the case of
- Natural gas – with 3 themes out of 12 – Turbines, Compressors and – in part – Midstream Energy Transportation with annual performances of, respectively, 67%, 58% and 48%
- Data Centers and Fiber Optics – also with 3 themes – Fiber Networks, Infrastructure and Fiber Optics with annual performances of, respectively, 81%, 53% and 56%
- MidCap equities – 2 themes – Moderate Volatility and Growth Potential with annual performances of, respectively, 57% and 50%
While performances recorded over the past 12 months are rarely relevant in forward-looking investment strategies (the data center series might be an exception, listed in the Library under 21st Century Technology), themes should also be searched by shorter time frames – such as 3 or 6 months
The analysis may confirm annual trends or single out new industry developments
Strategies and Trackers
Strategies, Market & Risk Trackers are different
The selections are updated dynamically by tracking daily price and quarterly accounting data points generally favored by performance rankings – such as Growth to Ride, Performance and Manageable Debt or Controling for Risk
These selections stand apart : by listing individual equities of interest, a potenti al investor is encouraged to bookmark preferred assets (directly from the selection) for further evaluation
All dynamic themes will be found in the ‘Portfolio Models’ section of the Lbrary
